Madelyn's in the Grove has received the following awards. They were the winter winner of the Union Grove Ruritan Community Appearance Award. They won the Best Customer Service Award, and the 2003 North Carolina Innkeeper of the Year Award. They are also a National Wildlife Association Backyard Habitat.
Union Grove is centrally located on Interstate 77 at Exit 65 between Statesville (Interstate 40-15 miles south), Wilkesboro (Highway 421-20 miles northwest) and Elkin (Interstate 77-17 miles north). Madelyn's in the Grove is located on the Snowbird Route 1.6 miles from I-77 at Exit 65 (Statesville).

Union Grove is the home of "The Old Time Fiddler's Convention". In the summer of 2004 the Festival celebrates its 80th consecutive year. The area is steeped in music and musical traditions. Within minutes you can attend Blue Grass Jam Sessions just about any day of the week.
Close by there are antique shops, State Parksgolf, and horseback riding. Ride the mountain trails of the Brushy Mountains, the grandparents of the Appalachians.
The home is filled with family antiques and great collections. Of special interest is the 1854 Steinway Baby Grand Upright that has been in Madelyn's family for years. Also, prevalent are John's collection of iron dogs and medicine bottles.
With over thirty bird feeders in the yard, you will be amazed at the number of feathered friends that call Madelyn's in the Grove home. Relax on the decks or the gazebo, sit in the swing at the Carriage House Shed or enjoy one of the books from the library. There are so many things to do or do nothing at all!
Madelyn serves afternoon refreshments with Lemonade or Hot Cider. There is always a delicious dessert put out at night for that midnight snack. You will love the exquisite breakfasts that are served with antique linens, silver, china and crystal.
