Our 26-acre gently wooded property is a child's dream....lots of room to run around in, farm critters, such as goats, chickens, guinea hens, donkeys, a turkey and a peacock, to look in on and check for new babies.....a lake to paddle one of our canoes on (bring your poles for some terrific catch & release fishing!)....swimming pool....horseshoe pit.....bikes and much more. Sightsee at Chimney Rock Park, raft on a nearby river, golf and antique nearby, and there's always the magnificent Biltmore Estate and Asheville, NC, just minutes from here. Catch a play at the Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theater of North Carolina, and hunt waterfalls in DuPont Forest. Then, dine with the whole family in our award-winning Season's restaurant."

We are located just 5 minutes south of Hendersonville, North Carolina (halfway between Asheville, NC, and Greenville, SC). Highland Lake Inn is 90 minutes West of Charlotte, NC, and 3 1/2 hours from the Atlanta, GA, airport.

The Woodward House

The Woodward House has a cozy lobby with a library, fireplace and several sitting areas. There is also a public kitchen for our guests that enjoy drinking coffee and meeting others. Each of the 16 guestrooms has a private bath and all have individual character. Some rooms have whirl pool tubs, wet bars, canopy beds and gas fireplaces. We also have rooms with French Doors that open out to wonderful porches with rockers for our guests that want to savor all that nature has to offer.

Built in the early 1900's, The Lodge caters to our guests who enjoy a more informal environment. Recently renovated, The Lodge houses 20 rooms all with private bath, coffee makers, television, some even have patio porches. Each room is distinctively decorated and features exquisitely crafted armoires, tables, or dressers from our own Highland Lake oak.

The spacious lobby has an enchanting character with the warmth and comfort of a huge river stone fireplace and beautiful wooden decor. The separate meeting area, and new breakfast bar area, makes it the perfect gathering place for family reunions, weddings or corporate meetings. The recreation room is equipped with a pool table, ping pong and large screen TV. Whether in a group or by yourself you'll consider The Lodge your "home away from home."

The Cabins Each cozy cabin duplex is an historic camp building that has been updated for comfort with a private bath and includes a separate entrance. Many of our families rent both sides and bring the whole extended family! The large cabin rooms have a gas log fireplace, perfect for cool mountain mornings.

The Cottages Six, family-style poolside Cottages are fully equipped with kitchens and most of what your family will need for a stay at Highland Lake Inn. Eleven Garden Hamlet cottages, close to the lake, are also available.

Large crowds can mingle and dance across its ancient oak floor. It has private breakout rooms... banquet food service, a great bar and an outdoor deck that looks out over the garden and lake (pictured above). Many corporate and community decisions have been hammered out under this Hall's high ceilings. The Grand Ole Hall is ideal for your executive conference, banquet feast, wedding reception, benefit, rally or reunion. A wide variety of smaller meeting spaces are available. We can accommodate meeting space for groups up to 160.
