Introduction
Heaven's Gate is owned and operated by Sharon Hendricks, who purchased the property in October 2007 and began operating as Heaven's Gate Bed & Breakfast in late fall of 2007. Heaven's Gate includes a 1905 two story 5 bedroom farm house, with 5 fireplaces, sun porch, front and side verandah, plus a 2 bedroom, 2 bath carriage house on a peaceful 8.5 acres of natural woodlands. There is a peaceful creek running through the property and the house is surrounded by woods on 3 sides. On one side of the house are several Dogwood trees which are covered with lush blooms each spring.
There's no doubt about it, Heaven's Gate is definitely paradise and a dream come true for Sharon. "Five years ago," she says, "the Lord laid on my heart that I need to have a Bed & Breakfast in the Boone area of North Carolina. He also impressed on me that I will build a Chapel for weddings and a place for passers by to stop and pray," Sharon says. "Each year the desire grew as I waited on the Lord to lead me to the right place. During a trip to The Cove in Ashville a couple of years ago, the very first people I met were people from the area of North Carolina that was impressed upon me. It was no small coincidence that one of the ladies relatives was in the real estate business."
"During the latest trip to The Cove, I took a few extra days to visit the Boone area," says Sharon. "The Lord has been opening & closing doors very rapidly. On Labor Day 2007, He showed me a 1905 farm house that had been totally refurbished. The home was absolutely perfect for HIS project. He flung the doors wide open and I am thrilled to say that Heaven's Gate is now a reality."
Besides providing restful and romantic accommodations for travelers, the property is also ideal for private gatherings such as weddings, retreats and family reunions, as well as festivals and special events. Additionally, Sharon offers her own scrumptious line of baked goods, pies, muffins and cakes to the public through the Back Door Bakery. Future plans include refurbishing the old pass through barn that will be transformed into a place for craft fairs and a stand of trees that will have picnic tables.
A Country breakfast is served every morning between 7 and 9 a.m. in the Fruit of the Spirit Dining Room. Please let us know if there are any special dietary needs and we will be glad to accommodate you.
