Introduction

The Inn at Grays Landing is a fully restored Georgian mansion (c. 1790) located in the historic district of Windsor, a small eastern North Carolina town noted for its hospitality.
The Inn features spacious common areas with high ceilings, original heart pine flooring, ornate ceiling medallions and chandeliers, and crown moldings. The five guest rooms are full of southern charm with period antiques and reproductions.
History
In 1790, this Georgian mansion was built. Today, one of the oldest houses in the town of Windsor, it has been occupied by some of the town's most famous families. John Johnson, attorney-at-law, was the first owner. Other residents include Elisha Rhodes, appointed by President Van Buren as an U.S. Consul to the Port of Galveston, Republic of Texas and his son William Henry, one of the first science fiction writers. The house was also occupied by David Outlaw, a pro-Unionist Congressman before the Civil War.
