The Duck Smith House is a 1914 farmhouse situated in the quaint town of Seagrove. Seagrove is the pottery capitol of North Carolina. Potters are scattered throughout the Seagrove countryside along winding and twisting roads. As you go around a bend you will see a potters sign, pull in and see all of their wonderful works. Park in town, stroll around and walk to the museum. The Seagrove Hardware Store is one of our landmarks. They still sell nails by the pound and horseshoes can be purchased one at a time. Step back in time...come to Seagrove.
We have completely renovated our home and have all new furnishings in each of our four guest bedrooms. Along with new pillow-top mattresses, we have new pillows, linens, comforters and towels. Each bedroom has a private bath for your privacy and comfort. There is cable TV in each bedroom and the house is wireless for your convenience.
The Living Room is cozy and charming and has a gas log fireplace that is original to the house. It makes for a warm welcome on some of our cooler days. And, of course, during the warmer months, we've allowed for the "modern luxury" of air conditioning to keep you comfortable. We invite you to make yourself at home, curl up with your favorite book or enjoy the peaceful quiet that the room offers or watch a video. A great room for socializing.
Stroll the property and take in the beauty that surrounds you. Our home sits on three plus acres featuring two tobacco barns, hand built log cabins, and a swing hanging from a branch on the 100 year old walnut tree in the back yard. We also offer a hammock for those who want to stretch out and do nothing or you can try playing badminton or crochet. Sit on the front porch and watch all the birds from cardinals to bluebirds, wrens and chickadees. When we have rainy days, there is a babbling stream down the hill. Take a walk down the hill and listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy being at The Duck Smith House.
