Introduction
Welcome to the Colonel's Lady Bed and Breakfast. This lovingly restored, historic turn of the century home offers warm and gracious greetings, relaxing and restful nights, and delightful homemade breakfasts.
Welcome to the Colonel's Lady Bed and Breakfast. Marion extends a warm southern greeting to you all. This spacious late Victorian home is located in the Mill Avenue Historic District in Downtown Jacksonville.
The home was constructed in 1901 by Jay F. Boggs and given as wedding gift to his daughter, Mary, and her husband, George Bender. Mr. Bender was the justice of peace for Onslow County and also served as the cashier at the Bank of Onslow.
The home has a gabled fronted side passage form and a wrap around porch, turned posts and balusters. Marion DuBose Goodman has been the proud owner and hostess at the B&B since it opened in 2001.
For families and friends of our local service members, the B&B is conveniently located to the Main gate of Camp Lejeune (7 miles) and is only 4 miles from the Gate at the New River Air Station and Camp Geiger. The local USO is three blocks away and the district and county courthouse is an easy walk away. Jacksonville's Albert Ellis Airport is a 12 ½ mile drive and Wilmington's airport is a 55 minute drive to our southeast. A city park, Riverwalk Crossing, is located one block from the B&B and has wide brick lined sidewalks for strolling or power walking to the beautiful New River.
