Introduction
Featured in Our State magazine, this bed and breakfast perennial favorite is located amid acres of landscaped grounds in North Carolina's coastal plain. Just minutes from major highways this Carolina countryside B&B is a perfect stopover to the Outer Banks.
With over 300 acres to roam, guests can explore the landscaped gardens, old barns, or simply drop a line in the lake. Ninety-year-old pecan trees planted by the owner's parents still shade the inn.
The owner once sailed and cooked aboard a private yacht, and the rooms are reminiscent of these Caribbean experiences. If you want to experience more of the Carolina feeling, just ask how to find the local flavors, whether collards and corned backbone, banana fritters, or herring roe and hushpuppies.
Each guest room has a private entrance, individual climate control, private bath and its own wetbar. The artist's touch is evident everywhere you look, in hand-stenciled floors, faux painted walls that create the look of crumbling plaster and stained glass doors. In winter, guests can sit in front of a fire in the Packhouse breezeway or by the large stone fireplace in the Mardi Gras Suite. On balmy summer days, guests stroll the acres of
landscaped grounds, smell the Cape Jasmine and watch the purple martins swoop through the air.
Candlelight catered meals served in your room upon request.
Massage on premises on request.
Coin laundry on premises.
Wireless internet throughout the inn.
A delicious continental breakfast is served in your room, and consists of homemade sourdough or sweet breads made with fruits and nuts grown on the farm along with juice, cheese, coffee, tea and fresh fruit. Grapes, pears and blueberries from the orchard are served in season. Pear brandy preserves and blueberry jam made from our own fruit are guest favorites. Homemade yogurt is a specialty of the house.
We use as many locally grown foods and products as possible. Our quiches are made with locally raised free range chicken eggs and ingredients from the cook’s garden are served with at least one edible flower as garnish.
Whether for business or for pleasure, this is elegant country living at its best.
