The Inn was built in 1908 as the private residence of Mr. Jim Long, the developer of the Waynesville Country Club. He and his family resided here for thirty years. Impressed by the house and its setting, Mr. Long named the area 'Belle Meade' from the French which when translated means 'Beautiful Meadows'.
