Having evolved from The Shawneehaw Inn of a bygone era to the present Bed and Breakfast Inn with luxurious new cottages, the Inn offers 5 bedrooms in the main house (for adults) and has expanded to offer 3 new luxurious cottages for two, a brand new Bark House cabin, and rental cabins nearby for families. It is located by the Town Park, near 8 restaurants, yet has a serene country mountain meadow view. The Banner Elk Inn has served over 20,000 guests in the span of 19 years with over 50% repeat occupancy. The Inn offers the best from the past and present -- Southern Hospitality, old world antiques, good food, comfy soft bedding, high tech and modern conveniences, and more. |

The Banner Elk Inn a Bed and Breakfast with cottages and cabins is located only 4/10th of a mile from Banner Elk's only stoplight where there are seven restaurants with great food and even many more restaurants within a short drive. The Inn lies within the village, across the street from The Banner Elk Town Park which features a lovely paved walking path, bordering a meandering stream. You can Relax and enjoy the cool mountain breezes from our side porch overlooking our award-winning perennial gardens and a wonderful pastoral mountain meadow view in the distance. |
| The Peach Room | The newly remodeled Peach Room -- delicately Victorian, soft and airy in style -- features a majestic turn of the century Ashe County Walnut bed with Tiger Maple relief, topped with a brand new queen-size Memory Foam mattress. Lighting on either side of the bed provides a great reading spot for two; an antique secretary is nearby for writing. TV & wireless provided. Adjacent to the room the newly remodeled private bath is tiled in classic -- sparkly, sumptuously clean -- white. | $85 to $125 |
| The Four-person Suite | The Four-person suite is composed of TWO bedrooms which share a bath (tub & shower) with one another but not with anyone else. The Pink Room has a king-size pewter bed, antique marble top dresser, and a hand carved Peruvian bench. The Blue Room has a queen-size pewter bed. This suite is ideal for 3 or 4 adults traveling together. Both rooms have beautiful antiques. | $140 to $180 |
| The Light Brown Room | Offers a queen-size antique brass bed, featuring an antique settee, carved Peruvian bench, large new bathroom with tub & shower. | $85 to $125 |
| Loft bedroom Suite | This attic suite is our most popular suite with young couples, however it does have some drawbacks (a narrow stairway and lower than normal ceilings.) This suite features two rooms and a half bath. It has wall to wall carpeting, is spacious, private and secluded. One room has been converted into a tub and lounge room with a garden tub for two. From the king-size bed, you can listen to the fountains and view the English garden below. | $90 to $135 |
| The New Addition Room / Cottage | Our new addition / cottage offers a room of grace, light and quiet drama, with outside entry, and access to a private garden. Warm to a Vermont Castings wood burning stove fireplace (with a lovely sitting area to read, watch cable TV, or listen to music), soothe your body in the whirlpool tub for two, sleep on a king size Sleigh Bed under a down comforter, and wake in morning to the soft caressing light of the sun beaming through stain glass windows. Whirlpool tub, stained glass windows from Scotland, separate half bath, and a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. | $150 to $175 |
| Briarwood Cottages | The Briarwood Cottages, in pewter gray, are a duplex of two beautiful BRAND NEW Efficiency Cottages located in a separate building by The Banner Elk Inn, Owned by the Inn and have a distant view of Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, just 2 miles away. Each cottage offers lots of Light, Palladian windows, Cathedral Ceilings, original European antique Stain Glass Windows, King size bed, fully equipped Kitchen with cooking stove/microwave, gas log Fireplace, full private bath with Deep Whirlpool tub, standup and hand held showers, beautifully furnished dining and sitting areas, cable TV & VCR. This building is handicapped accessible. Each cottage is for two people, but an Extra Room with trundle bed and half bath can be made available for an extra person; the extra room is privatized with hotel-design sound proofed firewall DOUBLE doors on either side. This facility is non-smoking. Breakfast at the Inn (Saturday and Sunday mornings) and use of the common cozy areas of the Inn such as use of the coffee room/parlor/side porch and gardens, are included. Weekly rates are available; ask about our Pet Policy. |
