Introduction

Overlooking picturesque Lake Tomahawk with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background, you can experience the vacation you've been looking for at Arbor House Bed and Breakfast Inn. Located in the small town of Black Mountain, known as "The Front Porch of Western North Carolina," we are surrounded by mountains everywhere you look. We live the vacation every day and look forward to sharing it with you.

Many people say that if they had known B&Bs could look like this they would have stayed in one a long time ago. We designed Arbor House in the Arts & Crafts style to create the look of old but with all new construction and furnishings we have the comforts and conveniences of new.

During your stay at Arbor House, you are invited to sit by the fire in the living room with its comfortable large sofa and overstuffed chairs and enjoy a good book from our extensive collection. Spread out your maps and brochures and plan your day at the large game/reading table.

A few steps down the hall, you enter the dining area with its wood-burning, stone fireplace. Here you can enjoy a full, cooked breakfast with each day's menu featuring an entree such as stuffed French toast, Belgian waffles, or muffins with delicious omelets. For the convenience of our guests, a double-butler pantry is complete with a selection of coffees and teas.

After breakfast, you can start your activities for the day or simply relax and enjoy the gardens of Arbor House. Sit back on the deck or out in the garden chairs and enjoy nature at its finest! You'll be surrounded by gardens of azaleas, rhododendrons and dogwoods in the spring or large shady oaks and roses in the summer and fall. Don't forget the binoculars since nature provides an assortment of songbirds and waterfowl around the lake. The mini-fridge is stocked with water and sodas and after your day's activities relax on the deck or around the table with freshly baked sweets from the kitchen. Massage therapy services are also available on-site by request.

Arbor House in North Carolina offers four uniquely decorated bedrooms
for you to choose the one to fit your needs.

Pinnacle Room

Easily accessible from the entrance to the B&B is Pinnacle, named for the second highest peak on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Refreshing and inviting, this room has two twin beds that can be converted into a king bed if needed. The blue and white color theme is carried throughout the room from the bed furnishings to the comfortable chairs and décor, including a large collection of Chinese vases, plates and teapots. White on white octagonal tile and wainscoting in the bath continue the old-style arts and crafts theme of the B&B. $159/night

Greybeard Room

On the first floor, overlooking the lake is Greybeard, named for another of the peaks to the north of the B&B. The room features a queen-sized, black poster bed and comfortable reading chairs. Open the windows and you'll be treated to the sights and sounds of the spray of the fountain and the ducks on the lake. Glass French doors open into a spacious bath with a wainscoted, two-person whirlpool tub and fluted glass and tile shower. The custom-built vanity, created from an antique dresser, has a large marble top with a white-fluted, porcelain sink. $189/night

High Windy Room

High Windy, named for one of the highest peaks southeast of the town of Black Mountain, is also located on the second floor. This room features a queen-sized bed and comfortable sitting chairs near a large window overlooking a tiered garden. Two European roof windows provide lots of light and the cool mountain breezes. As you enter the bath, light floods from the skylight into the two-person, walk-in, tile and glass-block shower with multiple sprays. $179/night

Lookout Room

This room is named for Lookout Mountain, one of the many peaks north of the B&B. It is located on the second floor with a beamed balcony that provides spectacular views over Lake Tomahawk and up toward Craggy Gardens and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Snuggle down in the plush king-sized bed and wake up to these mountain views. Put your feet up and relax in the sitting room with its oversize ottoman, sofa and chair. Step into the sunlit bath and pamper yourself with the glass shower, pedestal sink, and two-person whirlpool tub. $199/night
