Area Attractions
Visitors to Asheville have a wide range of activities to keep busy if they want, or plenty of quite places to relax.
Asheville is blessed with one the crown jewels of America's gilded age, the Biltmore Estate. A 250-room French Renaissance Chateau built in 1895 by George Vanderbilt. Unique in that it has not been turned into a state museum, but is still owned by the same family that built it. The Biltmore Estate is open 363 days a year and your visit will take from four hours to days.
Outdoor enthusiasts will never run out of things see and do in the Asheville area. The Blue Ridge Parkway loops around Asheville and whether you are looking for a driving tour with breathtaking scenery or a hiking trip, it can be found here. The hikes range from an easy urban trail downtown to strenuous up and down mountain challenges. There is also horseback riding, white water rafting, quiet water canoeing, mountain biking, fishing, or a challenging game of golf on a mountain course.
