Introduction

The Burn Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn - Natchez, Mississippi

Since 1978 this historic home has been one of the finest bed and breakfasts in Natchez, and it continues to be a central attraction for visitors who look for comfortable accommodations in a quiet, beautiful atmosphere.

We offer a full Southern Breakfast with each night's stay, and a tour of our historic home. Along with the grand architecture and furnishings, you'll see old photographs from a time gone by, and a drawing - practically an architectural rendering, of the original home as it stood in 1834.

With all the hustle and bustle of everyday life all around you, isn't it time to take a break? Natchez has the easier small town pace with plenty of history, shopping, restaurants, and attractions to make it fun. Get in touch and we'll help you plan a stress free visit for your next vacation or weekend getaway.

For the authentic experience of historic Natchez, the accommodations at The Burn are the perfect place. Each of our rooms is lovingly, painstakingly created to match the home at the height of its splendor. And they all come with the latest in 21st century comfort. Full baths. Heating and air conditioning. Flat screen TVs. It's history in a cozy setting year round.

Circa 1834, The Burn is the historic home of the John Walworth family for more than 100 years. The only exception was the three years that Union forces occupied the home as a hospital upon evicting the Walworths. The original dining table is still in the home, as is the original china.

We offer tours daily to all of our guests, served proudly with wine and hospitality. As the full splendor of this three-story mansion is revealed, it will be easy for you to imagine the full scope of Natchez in its heyday. We also participate in the Fall Pilgrimage, including an authentic historical recreation of the period dress and manners by our staff.

Swimming Pool

And every early morning riser can enjoy our Southern breakfast. We pamper you with an egg dish, biscuits, bacon, sausage, fruit and our grits that are so good they've turned hardcore grit opponents into lifelong fans. You can't miss this most important meal of the day.

Few spots in Natchez can match the relaxing feel of our swimming pool. Surrounded by poolside brick, the pool is perfect for an early morning dip or an afternoon sip. And when you feel like wandering, stroll through our three-acre estate garden, featuring over 102 camellias.

So why not re-live history in a piece of history? Pick out the room at The Burn that's right for you. Some of our repeat guest drive from three hours away, some fly from Europe. Come, stay and become a part of The Burn family.

Here at The Burn, we pride ourselves in faithfully recreating history and offering it with all the comforts of today. All of our rooms are meticulously designed to match the home in its entire historic splendor. From the flooring to the finest antiques to the period mantles, The Burn is living history.

Of course, comfort is the focus as well. On all of our beds you will find sheets and pillowcases of high thread count finest Egyptian cotton, as well as down pillows and comforter. The mattress is top quality and will have you dreaming the night away flanked by our silk damask curtains. And in each bathroom, you'll find our hand-milled glycerin soap made exclusively for The Burn. A true luxury.

The Burn doesn't just have a story. It has an entire novel. Louise Willbourn Collier's Pilgrimage: A Tale of Old Natchez is set in the time between 1830 and 1930, following the brave journey of the Walworth family through prosperity, war, struggle and triumph. Copies are on sale at our home year round in each room. We know you'll enjoy this trip through the past of the very home in which you are staying.
