Our prayers and thoughts are with all of the victims and the recovery efforts.
Below you will see the "status" of the Mississippi B&Bs that we have heard from. As we contact and hear from more B&Bs in the affected area we will post their "status".

Oakdale Farms Bed and Boarding Stables - Brandon "Jackson area", Mississippi
One month ago, the unthinkable occurred. Hurricane Katrina blew through both Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana with all her strength and might. We all know it took out basically the whole Gulf Coast area of both Mississippi and much of Louisiana, but it also managed to find its way up here as far as the Jackson, MS area. We were all without power MANY days, trying to house many displaced people, some having horses and the rest horseless lost souls, searching for a dry, comfortable place to call "Home" if only for a few days.
Even with no power and scorching high temperatures during that week, everyone "got along" amazingly well, pitched in and helped each other, and basically made the best of a bad situation. Sometimes God has a way of telling us that everything will be all right, we just need to remember "Him" when our troubles are too much to bear!
Oakdale Farms is now up and running at full speed. Our guest rooms are now available for those people seeking short term stays or long term stays. (10/27/2005)

The Father Ryan House Bed & Breakfast Inn - Biloxi, Mississippi
The Father Ryan House was lost to Katrina, but the staff is fine and the so is the famous Palm Tree that grew through our front steps. Our best wishes go out to all of the other B&Bs on the Coast and in New Orleans. (9/14/05)

Moss Point Oaks Bed & Breakfast - Moss Point "Pascagoula area", Mississippi
Moss Point Oaks is currently providing space to displaced families and relief workers in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. We do not anticipate any vacancies until April or May, 2006. We urge you to make a donation to relieve the burden on our neighbors along the Gulf Coast. (12/1/2005)

Acorn Cottages at Centennial Oak - Ocean Springs, Mississippi
The Acorn and Acorn Too survived beautifully but we are housing local residents who were displaced by Katrina. We hope to reopen for our usual guests in the Spring. Please know that the beautiful downtown Ocean Springs area with its many shops and restaurants is intact for the most part. The Peter Anderson Arts Festival is still "on" for the first weekend in November although it will be difficult to find accommodations. Our prayers are with those who have suffered such devastation and destruction. (10/19/2005)

Oak Shade Bed & Breakfast - Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Miraculously Oak Shade survived Katrina. It is inexplicable because
the lovely brick home across the street took nearly two feet of water.
The homes 100 feet to either side of us suffered enormous damage; one is literally broken in two and will be demolished.
Oak Shade has housed five homeless families and 28 individuals since Katrinas arrival. These folks have come and gone and were so grateful for a place to stay until they could find housing or move elsewhere. Many of the individuals were volunteers who came to the Gulf Coast to help in whatever way they could. For some weeks now I have been able to rent rooms to FEMA folk, insurance adjustors, phone company and hospital people, educators and one set of tourists who came to the Peter Anderson Festival this past weekend.
Ocean Springs residents know how lucky and blessed we are. Even so we
took an enormous hit and the devastation is still unbelievable to me. I just stand and gawk anytime I walk or drive anywhere. I served as EOC Commnd Post Director in the immediate aftermath of Katrina. Like everyone, life has never been quite so crazy, hectic and meaningful as have these days.

Harbour Oaks Inn - Pass Christian, Mississippi
