 Independence, Missouri Bed and Breakfast: The original building was built in 1900 as a doll and quilt factory. It was known as Ruby Short-Mckim's studio or Kimport Dolls from the early 1900s until the 1980s. In 1987, Charles Woodstock and Lane and Ruth Harold bought the building and turned it into an 11-room bed and breakfast. Todd and Patricia Justice, the current owners, have not made any structural changes, but have changed the decor and furnishings to add their own personalities to the interior. The improvements have made a big impression. They are members of and inspected by AAA, Mobil and the Bed & Breakfast Inns of Missouri, and in the most recent inspection, were awarded the third diamond by AAA. They were gratified to see their hard work and efforts recognized.
