St. Charles is the county seat of St. Charles County and boasts several charming B&B establishments. It lies just northwest of St. Louis, Missouri, on the Missouri River. St. Charles was significant in the United States' westward expansion. One of the most popular events is the Festival of the Little Hills, a historic St. Charles tradition that takes place every year in August. To participate in this festival make a reservation at a St. Charles B&B. Dating from the late 1960s, this festival is known nationally as one of the top ten craft fairs. It lasts an entire weekend featuring great food, live entertainment, craft sales, and shows for kids. Another event to look forward to is the "Tartan Days", which features the celebration of local Scottish Heritage held each spring with a parade of marching bagpipers from around the World. If you’re in the town at the right time, attend "Mosaics - Festival for the Arts". This arts festival is hosted by Main Street in St. Charles each September and brings artists from across the States to exhibit and sell their artwork. All those interested in history can pay a visit to the St. Charles County Historical Society located in downtown St. Charles featuring plenty of local artifacts. While you’re in town, do not hesitate to stay at a nearby St. Charles bed and breakfast or St. Charles inn where the local hospitality will ensure that your stay is a good one. For Chinese delicacies, go to the Hunan House, one of the best restaurants in town. There is a great selection of Italian restaurants, namely Concetta's Italian Restaurant, Fazoli's Italian Restaurant and Catering and the Grappa Grill.
