Step gently into the time when riverboats plied the mighty Mississippi and weary travelers looked forward to the hospitality of this famous hotel. At the Southern Hotel the graciousness of the past is carefully blended with modern comforts to make your stay a very special experience. This graceful Federal-style building was built in the 1790's. It has been operating continuously as a hotel since 1805 and was reported to have the finest accommodations between Natchez and St. Louis. The Southern Hotel is located in the main Historic district within walking distance of 5 full service restaurants, 4 Historic Homes, the Museum, Tourism Center and many, many shops. When visiting the Southern Hotel please feel free to walk in the garden and enjoys its peace and surprises. April is the month to see the wisteria. Upon your arrival at the Southern Hotel you will find on the first floor two parlors, a game room and a dining room.

There are eight spacious bedrooms, four on each floor. Each bedroom has its own bath with a ball and claw foot bathtub, the original hot tubs. Dolly DuFour, a local artist, has masterfully painted the exterior of each tub to complement the theme of the rooms.

Rates & Policies
  • Occupancy of 2 to a room
  • Pricing from $93 to $125 for third floor rooms depending on Date & Event
  • $115 to $145 for second floor rooms depending on Date & Event
  • $175 for Buttons & Bows room
  • Business person weekday single occupancy rate starting at $77
  • A NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-RESCHEDULABLE $35 advance deposit per night per room is required to secure your reservation.
  • Our cancellation policy is one week per night per room reserved from your arrival date.
  • Check-in: 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8 to 10 a.m.
  • Check out: by 11 a.m.
  • We have a non-smoking policy.
  • The 2 night minimum for weekends is only for the Month of May, June & October and Events.
