The Log Cabin

Are you searching for peace and quiet, perhaps longing for some time away from the noise and hectic lifestyle of the city? The Homestead Bed & Breakfast can fulfill your dreams. Ken and Marcia Smith strive to maintain a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You won't find anything fancy or Victorian here. We offer more of a laid back, make yourself at home kind of place.

You will find a mile long drive through the woods to get to our log cabin. You won't hear road noises, sirens or trains. You will be surrounded by tree covered hills and valleys, no houses. So peaceful it's impossible to be stressed. We are so far off the beaten path that your cell phone will NOT work here. It's a great place to enjoy nature, even if it is only from the front porch which is an inviting place to 'just sit' and look at the view of the Ozark hills. You will also see a wide variety of birds. We have several feeders in the yard so most evenings there will be deer or turkey or bunnies coming in for a snack.

We invite all our guests to explore our 75 acres of woods. There are several wide nature trails cut through the woods and two park-like picnic areas by the creek with tree trunk benchs and a fire ring. A picnic lunch and blanket can be provided for your enjoyment with advance notice.

On the back deck of our log cabin you will find a hot tub that sits in front of a large stained-glass window. Our guests can enjoy the 'tubbing' experience with built in mood lighting and cooler to keep your wine chilled. A fire in the fireplace and the milky way above make it a very romantic and a very private experience. We have a large rock firepit just off the back deck if our guests just want to sit around a roaring fire. You will probably hear coyotes and owls. In the summer, tree frog singing will fill the air. When the weather turns nippy, we have plenty of wool blankets to wrap up in to help you stay warm. We have a stocked pond by our small cottage. Our guests are welcome to fish from the dock, catch and release, please.
