Enjoy a night, a week, or a weekend in a beautifully restored historic Victorian home. Non-Victorian amenities like wireless internet (WiFi) are available to all guests. Relax in the multi-level garden replete with koi pond and a hot tub. A mere 4 - 6 blocks from a scenic byway or the Kansas City Museum. Built in 1899, the home is located in Kansas City's old northeast, which is a KC Historic Landmarks district. It is also listed on the national register of historic homes. Guests might enjoy sitting in the swing on the wrap-around front porch while enjoying the soft sounds of the neighborhood. The house has been fully restored with updated wiring, plumbing, heating and air conditioning. You might also choose a book from the bookshelves of the library. We can light the fire and let you read in the comfort and privacy of this room. |
| Morning will greet you in the dining room with its leaded windows and original oak plate rail surrounding the room. A deep sculptured plaster crown sets off the 10-foot ceiling, and a 6-foot wide solid oak pocket door leads to the front hall. Imagine a breakfast of fresh fruits, home-baked specialties with biscuits, muffins or coffee cake together with the host's own recipe for quiche or an early morning soufflé. The first floor solarium is a common area just off the kitchen where you may sit in the swing and watch television or a movie. |

The Billiards Suite includes a private bath with a 1912 oversized tub and a modern shower. The third floor also has a billiards room and entertainment center. You will savor a wonderful view of the downtown Kansas City skyline from a window seat. The Billiards Bedroom has a Queen-size bed and vintage wardrobe where bathrobes are provided. Included in the Billiards Suite is an area where you can read, watch television, play chess, work on a jigsaw puzzle or enjoy a game of pool. There is also a mini-refrigerator, microwave and sink for a late night snack. $125 |
| Gardening is a passion at this home. Guests will enjoy a morning stroll to check out the seasonal blossoms. There are many perennials as well as various annuals to fill in the gaps of the season. The host has a large variety of daylilies, so that something is usually in bloom throughout the months of late spring through fall. | During the cold months guests will enjoy relaxing in the hot tub, which is secluded in an enclosed gazebo. Robes are provided. It is secure and very private. A favorite spot in the garden is the koi pond with a pool-side pergola where you can relax and reflect on the day's activities while you watch the fish. |
| Or, you might ask your host if you can take your morning coffee at the water garden. It is especially nice in the early morning. There are many iris varieties blooming during the month of May. Wisteria covers the house and garden pergola in the early spring. Take a stroll through the garden to enjoy Sweet William blooming next to a flowering pear. And view the many other flowers blooming throughout the summer months. The garden has around 85 different varieties of daylilies. | |
