Cape Girardeau is a city in both Cape Girardeau and Scott counties in Southeast Missouri, located 115 miles south of St. Louis. The city has plenty of great Cape Girardeau B&Bs to offer. Make a Cape Girardeau bed and breakfast your home away from home in this trendy city that offers plenty of historical monuments and festivals. In the month of June, you can enjoy a wonderful game of putt-putt with the whole family and then conclude it with an all-you-can-eat catfish buffet at the Louis J. Lorimier Memorial World Famous Downtown Golf Tournament. This event also serves as a fundraiser for the Red House Interpretive Center. Another famous event is the Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival that takes place in July. This event marks an aerial tribute to all US Veterans, with a marvelous display of a variety of warbirds, military aircraft, demonstrations, civilian aerobatics and much more. Apart from this, there are several fun activities to keep the entire family occupied. One can also plan a visit to Bollinger Mill State Historic Site which provides a pleasant glimpse into the early years. There are several guided tours available for this four-story mill, featuring a demonstration of water-powered cornmeal grinding on the original burrstones. There also is the Burfordville Covered Bridge, built by Joseph Lansmon in 1858. It stands as the oldest covered bridge remaining in Missouri. Another magnificent historic site is the Old St. Vincent's Church. This church depicts the ancient Italian Renaissance Architecture, built in Gothic style with some Roman influence. Very few churches of this rare architecture currently exist in America and is designated as the "Chapel of Ease," on the National Register of Historic Places. Make a reservation at a Cape Girardeau inn for you to enjoy all the great activities in this wonderful city.
