Cape Girardeau is a city in both Cape Girardeau and Scott counties in Southeast Missouri, located 115 miles south of St. Louis. The city has plenty of great Cape Girardeau B&Bs to offer. Another famous event is the Cape Girardeau Regional Air Festival that takes place in July. One can also plan a visit to Bollinger Mill State Historic Site which provides a pleasant glimpse into the early years. There are several guided tours available for this four-story mill, featuring a demonstration of water-powered cornmeal grinding on the original burrstones. There also is the Burfordville Covered Bridge, built by Joseph Lansmon in 1858. It stands as the oldest covered bridge remaining in Missouri. Another magnificent historic site is the Old St. Vincent's Church. This church depicts the ancient Italian Renaissance Architecture, built in Gothic style with some Roman influence. Very few churches of this rare architecture currently exist in America and is designated as the "Chapel of Ease," on the National Register of Historic Places.
