For more than twenty years, Kay Cameron was "chief innkeeper" at Cameron's Crag Bed & Breakfast. Husband Glen worked full time, first in education administration and then as District Executive for Boy Scouts of America, while assisting at the B&B in whatever way he could.
After Glen retired in 2006 he became more involved in the day to day operation of the B&B. Following Kay's death in 2009, he decided to keep the business open and became a full time innkeeper. Kay's influence is still evident at the B&B.
For several generations, Kay and Glen's families have lived in the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. Glen worked in the educational field, serving as teacher and superintendent in public schools before accepting an administrative position at The School of the Ozarks (now College of the Ozarks) in 1969. He held various positions there until 2003 when he retired as Dean of Campus and International Services after 34 years of service. Following Glen's retirement, he and Kay spent a semester in The Netherlands as part of The College of the Ozarks international exchange program. On his return to the U.S. Glen served as District Executive for Boy Scouts of America before retiring a second time in 2006.
Kay taught home economics in secondary schools and at the college level. In 1982, she established Ozark Mountain Country Bed & Breakfast Service, a reservation service for Bed and Breakfast inns throughout the Ozarks region of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. The service currently focuses primarily on B&B's and Vacation Homes in Branson and the surrounding area.
In 1986, Kay and Glen moved off the campus of College of the Ozarks and built a home south of Branson, atop a bluff overlooking Lake Taneycomo. There they opened Cameron's Crag Bed & Breakfast. Along with opening her own B&B, Kay established Katydid Publications, and in 1986 published the first edition of Breakfasts Ozark Style. This collection is a compilation of dishes from Kay's own heritage and background as well as numerous offerings from Ozark Mountain Country B&B hosts. This cookbook and other Katydid Publications editions are available online and in our Gift Shop.
Glen has been involved with Boy Scouts of America for many years, serving as District Chairman, Order of the Arrow Advisor, Council Commissioner, Council President, Area Vice President, and District Executive, among other capacities. He continues to stay active in Scouting on a volunteer basis. Glen is an active Rotarian and Past District Governor of Rotary International District 6080. He also devotes time and energy to several church, community, and civic organizations as well as traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
