Bit of Eden Bed and Breakfast - Joplin, Missouri

Bill and Marge Meeker offer a delightful bed and breakfast retreat into an atmosphere reminiscent of the 1920s flapper years. Bit of Eden is a second venture into bed and breakfast hosting for these retired teachers. They have spent two years converting a small mid-20th century house into the jewel it has become. Our two guest bedrooms with a private bath, along with the living room and TV room/gallery, are offered as a suite to one party at a time, whether you come alone or as part of a group of visitors. The business traveler or couple can choose the bedroom preferred, and the bath is truly private. Only people traveling together will share the bath. Limited use of kitchen/dining facilities is allowed.

The hosts have their own quarters in the lower level and are always available for B&B guests. Bit of Eden is a treasure trove of ideas for avid do-it-yourselfers. Bill, an artist as well as craftsman, has created many beautiful and inexpensive features found nowhere else. Bring your cameras, note pads and tape measures. Marge is experienced at preparing delicious country breakfasts which she will tailor to the wishes of each set of guests. She is also an avid gardener and has a deep interest in writing.

Of special interest to antique buffs and junkers are the numerous shops in the areas as well as two large antique malls, Connie's and Southside Antiques. The immediate neighborhood is lovely for walking offering both challenging hills and some fairly level stretches. The large living room is perfect for visiting or reading and the family room for viewing television. The gentle sound of the fountain in our yard will relax you.

Bill and Marge will do their best to make your stay at Bit of Eden a pleasant one.

Single Person - $75
Couple - $85
Two Persons (2 bedrooms) - $150
Three Persons (2 bedrooms) - $160
Two Couples - $170
Child (futon) - $15
Infant under two years - Free
We accept Cash, Checks and Traveler Checks.
Deposits: $25, refundable with two days notice.
If you plan to travel with your pet, please share the details with us and we'll see if we can arrange something. Our dog and three cats are confined to our private quarters.

While we accept children, please discuss them with us when making reservations.
