Travel information about Missouri

Missouri is an interesting and adventurous location to visit. St. Louis is a great cultural hub. The first parachute jump from an airplane was made at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis on March 1, 1912. The first Olympics held in the United States were also in St. Louis in 1904. Ice-cream cones were also first produced at the 1904 world's fair at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. As well as producing American favorite treats, Missouri was also the first location in the nation to produce lead. Lead deposits led the French to find Sainte Genevieve, the first permanent European settlement in Missouri in 1750. Among some of the other early immigrants to St. Louis were Adolphus Busch and Eberhard Anheuser, who helped make brewing a national industry. Another great name to come from this state is Walt Disney, who grew up in Marceline, Missouri. Missouri also has great rivers, the Missouri and the Mississippi, to explore. Whether you're looking for a town adjacent Kansas City bed and breakfast or a comfortable St. Louis inn, choose a Missouri b&b that's memorable and charming.
