Introduction

Built in 1904, the Wenneson Historic Inn is located in Southeast Minnesota's beautiful "Bluff Country". Hotel owners and operators Barry and Pam Erickson have devoted seven years to renovating and restoring the old hotel while adding contemporary safety features, comforts and private baths. Each room has been completely outfitted with antiques and period furnishings. All buildings are centrally heated/air conditioned and all rooms contain ceiling fans. To maintain the Inn's ambiance, rooms do not contain televisions or radios. Wenneson Historic Inn - Peterson, Minnesota

Next to the Inn is the Root River Trail; over 40 miles of paved trail which follows the old railroad line and connects to the Harmony-Preston Trail; an additional 20 miles of paved trail. Biking, hiking, rollerblading, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling are some popular uses of these trails. The Root River offers canoeing, tubing and fishing opportunities. Golfers can enjoy a relaxing round at the Ferndale Country Club in nearby Rushford. Free shuttle services are available for our guests with advanced notice to and from the Rushford Municipal Airport which is less than three miles away.

We have 9 guest rooms, each with a private bath; 2 have double whirlpool tubs with showers. Room rates ON AVERAGE range from $70 to $125 per night, double occupancy, depending on the season and choice of room, and include a large continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

  • All rooms are SMOKE FREE
  • Check-in time: 5 p.m. Monday - Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday & Sunday. (earlier check-in times are available)
  • Check-out time is Noon.
  • Payment made with cash or personal checks - we DO NOT accept credit cards!
  • Fall and holiday weekends require a minimum two night stay.
  • 1 November - 31 March - Stay the first night at the regular rate, the next night is 50% off! (some restrictions apply; call or e-mail for details)
  • Year Round Special - Sunday thru Thursday - Stay the first night at the regular rate,
  • the next night is 50% off! (Discount not applicable during holidays)
  • Children must be 12 or older. No pets allowed!
  • Secure bike storage is available.

Of all the places I have ever stayed (which are many), this is the most charming and lovely!
