Introduction
When water, sun, and wind unite they create an illusion of glittering sparkles on the waves christened 'Solglimt' in Denmark…dancing diamond. Discover a similar array of extraordinary, unexpected delights, Duluth's Solglimt Bed and Breakfast, located on the sandy shores of Lake Superior. A place where peace and the serenity of the sun reach down to touch the shore, Solglimt Bed and Breakfast...
Lake Superior and its six-mile soft sand beach are feet from your door. The sun rises here and you can have glorious color or soft moody mist-both on the same morning! In the solitude of this natural side of Solglimt, in breezy sailing days or magnificent storms, it's hard to believe that the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, Marine Museum, charter fishing docks, Lake Superior Aquarium & Discovery Center, Canal Park shops and restaurants, and the Lakewalk are a very short walk across the Aerial Lift Bridge.
All our guests enjoy:

The piers leading giant lake- and ocean-going ships into the busy harbor are right outside your window. A Minnesota State Bike Trail section runs past our porch, which offers the best view in town of Duluth's huge 4th of July fireworks display. Originally a two-room cabin built on Minnesota Point (locally known as Park Point) in 1910, Solglimt is a true family home that has seen many renovations over the years. Your hosts, Brian & Mary Grover, have labored over the most recent and comprehensive work to accommodate three sons and a pride of place and beauty. Solglimt's exterior style is that of a late 1800's Victorian Seaside Cottage. Spacious porches and decks surround the home and offer views of sunrise over Lake Superior to sunset over St. Louis Bay.
The Great Room is a rich and lively expression of Brian & Mary's taste with a blend of open spaces, modern angles and an eclectic mix of antique and modern furnishings. The baby grand piano near the fireplace is tuned and ready to play. Thick sheepskin throws invite guests to snuggle down on the huge sofas and contemplate their itinerary over coffee, or just watch an ore carrier gliding through the piers.

Awarded 2nd Place in the 2004 Duluth City Gardening Contest!
The Italian tiles mounted over the garage doors are among the many unique elements that have their own story to tell. Gardens with both local and regional award recognition now rule where weedy sands once sprawled. Closer to the lake, long-rooted grasses protect the dunes and add graceful beauty and motion.
And did we mention that Mary is an accomplished cook with gourmet credits and a crowd of ardent fans? Or that Park Point native Brian has a wealth of Point and area knowledge? Brian and Mary would like to welcome you to their Solglimt suites.
