Baird Cottage Bedroom 		Located on the north shore of Lake Superior just three miles east of Grand Marais, Minnesota, the Scottish retreat Skara Brae beckons with breathtaking views and old-world hospitality. Enjoy the mesmerizing sights and sounds from the lake 100 feet below while relaxing on the comfortable and spacious decks or fireside in the lakefront living room.

Accommodations include one cottage (honeymoon suite) with kitchenette and bath, a two-room suite with private bath and a third queen-size bedroom with adjacent bath. European art, quilts, English country fabrics and native wood paneling decorate the bedrooms. Each room also has a TV/VCR and audio entertainment system. You may select from our extensive library of books, videos and CD's for personal enjoyment in your private quarters.

Full breakfasts and traditional afternoon tea are served each day. Enjoy outdoor and wilderness activities throughout the year.

We are just 35 miles from the Canadian border and 5 minutes from the gateway to the Gunflint Trail and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Enjoy year-round activities as well as superb cuisine at local restaurants. Please see our website links for upcoming festivals and events in 2009.

Skara Brae Policies
  • Rates: $55 - $160, based on double occupancy. Discounts not available on holiday weekends.
  • Minimum 2 night stay on weekends
  • Check-In Time is after 3pm. We appreciate knowing your approximate arrival time.
  • Check-Out Time is by 11am.
  • A deposit equal to 1 night is required to book your stay payable by check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Checks must arrive within 7 days of making the reservation and 2 weeks prior to check-in. A $30 service fee is charged for any returned checks.
  • Charge for each additional person over double occupancy in Bell Rock Suite is $25.00.
  • Continental breakfast served weekdays in winter season.
  • Full breakfast served everyday in summer season and weekends in winter season.
  • Cancellation Policy: Cancel 2 weeks before your check-in date for a full refund less a $15.00 service charge. If less than 2 weeks before check-in no refund unless we can re-book the room. You are responsible for the full reservation. If we re-book, a full refund less a $15.00 service charge will be made.
  • No children under 12 except with whole house rental.
  • No pets allowed but you are welcome to enjoy our resident cat Sly.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the home.
  • Taxes not included in room prices (6.5% State, 4% Lodging).
