History of Home
Dr. Conley, who built the house in 1897, is seen sitting on the front porch. Several features seen here are no longer on the house today. For example, the porch railings on the 3rd floor dormer and on top of the front porch roof.
Also noteworthy on the front porch, there were four columns. Today, there are six. The unsupported middle section above the stairs began to sag as the years passed. In the background, a flight of stairs can be seen descending from the back porch. While today's house does not currently have these steps, plans are in the works to restore this stairway to give our guests greater access to the back yard. Other than this, the house has not changed much from the outside. The oak tree seen on the left has had another 100 years to grow and is larger than seen here.
