Explore the beautiful St. Croix Valley from charming Stillwater. Unique shops, galleries and fine restaurants dot our historic downtown. Lowell Park along the river and Pioneer Park on the bluff offer dramatic views of the river. Visit wineries, take a balloon ride, hit the hiking or biking trails or just relax with a treatment in a spa. Spend the weekend at the James Mulvey Inn. You'll be glad you did!
Stillwater is often called "The Birthplace of Minnesota." Our state charter was drafted here in 1843. The valley is dotted with working century farms from Lake Elmo to Marine on St. Croix.
It's beautiful in all seasons. In winter, stark white snow crunches underfoot, the river ice heaves, cracks and booms, and the Northern Lights beckon us outdoors on crystal clear nights. In spring, thousands of migratory birds pay us a visit and grace our skies for a time. In summer, we flock to our beautiful St. Croix River in kayaks, canoes, and all manner of pleasure boats. In autumn you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the bluffline vista: our hardwood forests are brilliant in afternoon sun.
Our natives are friendly. Bustling business districts in Oak Park Heights, Lake Elmo, Bayport and Stillwater all offer inviting places to shop, dine, or just sit in the parks. Merchants are veterans at welcoming visitors, giving directions and advice, and will always put their best foot forward.
Our architecture is charming. Great care is taken to preserve our historic buildings and parks. Many locations display "National Historic Site" plaques on their exteriors. The Chamber office offers walking, driving and biking tour maps for the entire valley. So whether you're visiting us for the first time, returning for a second or third visit, we're pleased to say "Welcome home!"
