Introduction
This is the Golden Lantern Inn Bed & Breakfast in Red Wing,
Minnesota. Built in 1932-34 by J.R. Sweasy, president of Red Wing Shoe
Company, this Tudor revival home is nearly 7,000 square feet of master
craftsmanship. The home holds 8 fireplaces inside and another outside;
10 bathrooms; and beautiful, original wood throughout.
Located just 3.5 blocks from downtown Red Wing, the Golden Lantern sits
on an acre of land in the heart of Red Wing’s historic district, and
we're an easy walk to shops and dining.
Red Wing is known for what it offers. 72 holes of championship golf;
hiking, biking and cross country ski trails; two downhill ski resorts;
many parks located along the sharpest turn on the Mississippi River; a
wonderful 1800s era downtown in pristine condition; shopping; nightlife,
including a massive casino; boating, fishing and swimming on Lake Pepin;
and much more.

Walnut, birch, oak, mahogany and maple are everywhere. The front entry
features a walnut staircase. The dining room and library are entirely
oak. Marble and mahogany encase the living room fireplace and takes the
place of wood on the bathroom window sills. Our private yard is spacious and surrounded by gardens. The back patio features a large stone fireplace, comfy glider rockers and a 5-foot swing suspended from an 8-foot high arbor. Enjoy s'mores by the fire each evening, or just relax under the stars.
Each of our five rooms offers a fireplace, whirlpool, balcony or combination of amenities. Your full breakfast can be enjoyed in the
privacy of your room, downstairs in the dining room or, weather
permitting, on the stone porch. We provide luxurious robes.
In abundance of common areas is perhaps the biggest difference between
the Golden Lantern and other bed and breakfasts. When you’re not in your
room, check out the library and its beautiful Mission-style furniture;
lounge in the living room in front of the marble fireplace; relax on the
beautiful stone porch; or step out back and enjoy three secluded patios,
all surrounded by gardens and one with stone fireplace.
