Introduction
Award winning Elephant Walk emanates a luxurious atmosphere for your escape from everyday stress. Built in 1883 for Stillwater's first jeweler, the stick style Victorian has been lovingly restored by Rita and Jon Graybill following their return from Bangkok, Thailand. The Elephant Walk is truly a unique and exotic bed and breakfast that is full of fascinating objects and surrounded by beautiful water and flower gardens. The Inn offers both quiet places to rest and unwind and common guest parlors where new and interesting friendships are made.
Your stay at Elephant Walk will be a most memorable occasion!
The Graybill's collections from over twenty years of diplomatic service are displayed throughout the Elephant Walk and include antiques from Europe, the Far East, and America. The home is graced by two parlors on the first floor, one with a large fireplace. A wraparound front porch provides casual dining and a quiet place to unwind on the porch swing and accompanying peacock chairs. A large, more formal dining room is the site of Rita's sumptuous breakfasts and is guarded by an antique Burmese dragon. Each of our four guest rooms contains a queen size bed, double whirlpool bath, gas fireplace, sound system with CD player, air conditioning in the summer, and a refrigerator that is stocked with complimentary waters and soft drinks.
Located in the beautiful St. Croix river valley, Stillwater is Minnesota's oldest and most beautiful town. Founded in 1849, Stillwater is graced by scores of lovely Victorian era homes. Most of these homes were built during the boom years before the turn of the century when enormous white pine forests made Stillwater the number one source for lumber in what was then the "northwest". Today, Stillwater provides an almost unlimited range of activities from antique shopping in dozens of stores to hot air ballooning and water sports of all description. Winter activities include downhill and cross country skiing and Victorian Christmas parties.
Each night's stay includes a bottle of wine including California champagne, pinot noir, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel, chardonnay, piesporter riesling, sauvignon blanc, or non alcoholic sparkling pear or cider. Your wine will be served when you check in with a basket of Rita's homemade crackers, cheese and fruit. A four-course breakfast is served in the dining room at 9:00 with coffee and tea available at 7:30. When you hear the gong you know that breakfast is served.
