We sought an environment that offered simplicity and serenity and that was conducive to a healthy lifestyle. After several years of searching, we chose the town of Southwest Harbor along the rocky coast of Maine. The village of Southwest Harbor is located on Mount Desert Island and is often referred to as "the quiet side of the island." At The Yellow Aster Bed & Breakfast you will find the flavor of "old Maine." Southwest Harbor is an active fishing village, still today sustaining the charm of an earlier time.

• If what you seek is a place to read or play the day away, our living room is stocked with books and games. On a chilly day, a place beside a crackling fire awaits you.

• Whether you choose to spend the day viewing the natural wonders of the Acadia National Park; wandering through the many shops of Bar Harbor; or climbing Mount Desert's mountain peaks; all these activities serve to revitalize the person.

• After a day of hiking, biking, kayaking, or sailing, we'll be happy to arrange for a massage by a certified therapist.

The Yellow Aster Bed & Breakfast is furnished to create a warm and inviting environment. It is a colonial home built at the turn of the century. We have four rooms that are decorated to lend a sense of calm. Each room is distinct with inviting, comfortable furnishings and a private bath.

• Rates range from $95 to $125 per room, per night, single or double occupancy, and include a full breakfast.
• A deposit of one night's lodging is necessary for reservations of one or two nights. For longer stays, a 50% deposit is required. The deposit is due within 7 days of making reservation with the balance due upon arrival.
• Reservations may be canceled without penalty up to two weeks in advance, and later if room is filled for the entire reservation period. Early departures will be handled in the same manner.
• Check, cash or VISA/MC is the method of payment.
