Introduction
The Ullikana is a secluded, romantic haven by the sea in the heart of Bar Harbor, Maine. Old-fashioned gardens surround this historic English Tudor style house built in 1885. All of our rooms have private baths, many have fireplaces or private terraces with beautiful water views.
Alpheus Hardy, Bar Harbor's first summer cottager, built and named the Ullikana in 1885. This historic building is one of the few early cottages still remaining. While no one knows the story behind the name Ullikana, this elegant bed and breakfast maintains a long tradition of hospitality and welcomes guests and travelers from the world over.
"One of the more stylish places to stay in Bar Harbor is Ullikana bed & breakfast." — DownEast Magazine
"Ullikana B&B is a playful mix of art and antiques that can't help but make you feel welcome." — American Style
A Yellow House features spacious bedrooms, modern bathrooms and large sitting rooms with fireplaces - all you need to relax. It is a step away from the renowned shore path and downtown Bar Harbor. A Yellow House is the sister Inn of the Ullikana Bed and Breakfast. A Yellow House and The Ullikana are two of the original Bar Harbor seaside summer cottages and offer the charm of the past with the comfort of the present.
Although only a minute from the center of Bar Harbor, our quiet location offers a haven of hospitality.
Start your day with a delightful homemade gourmet breakfast on our terrace, while overlooking beautiful Frenchman Bay. Some of our specialties include Lemon Soufflé Pancakes with Warm Berry Sauce, Crêpes aux Pommes, Italian omelets, fruit dishes and more. And our freshly baked muffins are as tasty as our entrées. Relax in the afternoon with refreshments on the terrace, and watch the sails of ships in the harbor.
End your day by relaxing and chatting with fellow guests by the warmth of the fireplace in Ullikana's main living room. This is a great place to meet new friends or exchange stories of the day's adventures. Plenty of reading material is available for guests wishing to enjoy a good book or magazine.
