Introduction
Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Moses Webster House was built circa 1873 by granite magnate Moses Webster. This historic home has French Victorian flair - slate mansard roof, a tin ceiling, and marble mantles.
Innkeepers Lee and Donna Payne moved their family and
"homestead" to Vinalhaven in order to renovate the Moses
Webster House and share it with travelers and history
enthusiasts.
Vinalhaven is a quiet, scenic lobstering village. It offers
an array of scenic walks and nature trails such
as Lane's Island Nature Conservancy and
Armbrust Hill Park (within 1/2 mile). The fresh
water quarries (2 miles) are a refreshing option for
swimmers. Pack light and enjoy the luxury of unspoiled
beauty and pure rest and relaxation.
Located just at the edge of town, Payne Homestead is
only a 1/2 mile from the ferry terminal and convenient to the restaurants,
shops and library. This Bed and Breakfast has several
common areas, including a play room with an extensive
Walt Disney video collection, as well as several reading
nooks and books available for on site enjoyment.
Our guests are treated to a bountiful breakfast served family style at 8:00
a.m. daily. You are invited to enjoy our home's common areas and gardens for
reading and relaxing.
