In 1885 during Bar Harbor's Golden Age, the Bass family built its summer "cottage" in a field overlooking Frenchman Bay. Like many visitors during that era, they came to escape the summer heat of the city, to enjoy the forests and salt air of Acadia. This twenty-six-room estate was built by local craftsmen with loving attention to detail. Today, the Bass Cottage Inn welcomes guests who come to Bar Harbor for exactly the same reasons the Bass family did almost 120 years ago. |

The Bass Cottage Inn has been refurbished and reborn as a stylish ten-room inn that graciously blends old and new. Period detail coexists happily with modern comfort and convenience. The style is fresh and clean with a nod to history but without being overwhelmed by Victorian clichés. Our 10 guest suites have been newly refurbished with antiques, art and luxurious linens. The walls are touched with creams and pastels. Large windows frame views of Bar Harbor and Frenchman Bay while allowing the ocean breeze to refresh you. All guest rooms have a bathroom en suite and many offer cozy fireplaces and luxurious whirlpool tubs. In addition, all rooms offer TV/DVD, telephone, and air conditioning. |

A full breakfast and afternoon hors d'oeuvres with complementary wine selections are included in your room rate. Breakfast at the Bass Cottage Inn is the highlight of each day and will help you fuel up for your active day ahead. We offer you a choice of both a 'sweet' and a 'savory' hot entrée cooked to order. In addition, you can help yourself to fruit, yogurt, granola and fresh baked goods, and, of course, there's rich coffee and an array of fine teas. While we are always available to answer your questions, we maintain concierge hours from 4:00 - 7:00 pm each day specifically to assist you with restaurant reservations and planning your next day's adventures.

Linger in our clubby Lounge, browse through editions in the Library, or tickle the ivories on our baby grand piano. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that is creative, but also allows you to kick off your shoes and feel right at home. In the heart of Bar Harbor, the Bass Cottage Inn is situated in a peaceful enclave known as The Field. Enjoy our grounds, rock on the porch with a good book or cuddle by the fireplace in your suite. Guests are just steps away from fine restaurants, the town dock, the Shore Path and Bar Harbor's many shops. Acadia National Park is but minutes away. |
