Introduction
The Alden House is an inviting, comfortable inn located in the heart of Penobscot Bay. Built in 1840 by Hiram Alden, the inn features classic architecture, expansive garden areas, and delicious breakfasts. The Alden House Inn offers easy access to all points of interest along Penobscot Bay, Acadia National Park, Maine's Mid-Coast region - not to mention the City of Belfast itself, with its eclectic array of shops, cultural opportunities, and beautiful shoreline. Come find out for yourself why Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine listed Belfast as one of its top 10 "Coolest Small Towns".
The innkeepers, Rose Cyr and Larry Marshall, are committed to offering each guest a memorable stay, whether you're in town for a night or a week, traveling for business or pleasure.
The Alden House Inn has been recommended by:
Boston Magazine's New England Travel '09 ~ Best of New England (May, 2009)
Daily Candy (June, 2008) ~ Promenade Newspaper, Fort Lauderdale (September, 2008)
The Boston Globe (April, 2009)
For your convenience, we offer free wireless internet access.
A fantastic breakfast is an integral part of the Alden House experience. We feature local ingredients, thoughtfully prepared, to get our guests off to a great start each day. Some of our specialties include shirred eggs with herbs, chevre and Virginia ham, scones, blueberry pancakes served with Maine maple syrup and smoked bacon from nearby farms, vegetable strata and, of course, Rose's famous popovers with maple butter. If you have dietary requirements, please let us know in advance and we will be happy to accommodate you!
We also are proud to serve Irving Farm coffees. Table-side French press coffee service is available upon request. Breakfast is served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Coffee and hot water for tea is available at 7 a.m. In addition to breakfast, we offer afternoon tea which we serve with a baked goodie or two (fresh from our own ovens, of course).
Rose Cyr and Larry Marshall bought the Alden House in May, 2008. We bring a lifetime of professional experience with food and customer service to our roles as innkeepers. We are glad our guests have found the inn to offer a comfortable, relaxed, friendly environment. The inn is small enough that each guest will receive our individual attention. We are proud to be associated with an inn with such a rich history as the Alden House.
