Introduction
Come enjoy a weekend at The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast, a secluded, Victorian-era summer home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nestled between the rolling hills of the Patapsco Valley State Park, outside of historic Ellicott City, The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast offers a tranquil, rural setting for guests seeking to "get away from it all." Conveniently located 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore and BWI airport, 35 minutes from Washington, DC, it is a short drive to many Maryland landmarks. If notified in advance, The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast management will make arrangements for local tours or antiquing forays.
Catering to historic house lovers, The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast has been lovingly restored to its former country manor atmosphere. Although the original home on the site dates to 1799, the current structure is the result of a major addition and renovation by a wealthy Baltimore industrialist in 1899. With a family of 14, the house was enlarged to accommodate the immediate and extended family that Victorians frequently entertained during the summer months. We invite you to The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast to enjoy the same turn-of-the-century splendors: large, inviting rooms, period detail, wraparound veranda, and Victorian hospitality.
Enjoy a delicious continental breakfast buffet each morning featuring a variety of homemade baked goods, fresh fruit and fruit salad, yogurt, typical breakfast beverages and occasional special treats.
We have three guest suites, each with a bedroom, a private sitting room, and a private modern bath. Suites at The Wilderness Bed and Breakfast are available for rental on any weekend throughout the
year; weekday availability is possible with advance notice. Antiques abound inside, while gardens and wildlife abundantly surround the property. All of this splendor is just a five-minute drive to civilization!
