Separated from the rest of Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay and bounded on the easy by the Atlantic Ocean, the nine counties of the Eastern Shore are in many respects a world apart, characterized by a lifestyle rooted in the region's waterways and low-lying farmlands. For today's visitors, the area provides rewarding touring, thanks to its natural beauty, charming communities, such as Crisfield and St. Michaels, and numerous golf courses and designer and name-brand outlet centers.

On Kent Island, there's a great selection of waterfront eateries that serve up the finest in seafood. A nature retreat on Assateague Island and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and Wildfowl Trust of North America make for an interesting afternoon tour. Of course the Eastern Shore's star attraction is Ocean City, the seaside resort that boasts 10 miles of white sandy beach and year-round fun.
