Introduction

The Lake Pointe Inn has 10 rooms. Nine rooms have gas burning fireplaces and 7 of our 10 rooms have spa tubs. Additionally, 3 of those rooms have balconies. There is a sauna and steam shower available for all guests to use.

The newly renovated 10 room Lake Pointe Inn is an 1890 farmhouse perched on the edge of Deep Creek Lake in McHenry, Maryland..

The site was the summer home and estate of Dr. James McHenry in the early 1800s. A noted Revolutionary War figure, Dr. McHenry was staff surgeon to General George Washington, signer of the U.S. Constitution and Secretary of War under Presidents Washington and Adams.

Lake Pointe Inn Bed & Breakfast - Deep Creek Lake, Maryland

The Lake Pointe Inn is perched just 13 feet from waters' edge on the 65 mile Deep Creek Lake shoreline. The Inn is just across from the Wisp Ski Mountain and Golf Course.

Our Inn is situated on the Lake with a beautiful 2 mile view down Marsh Run Cove. All but one of our rooms have lake views and that room has a superb view of the Ski Mountain! Several of our other rooms have views of both the Lake and Ski Mountain.

The centerpiece of Garrett County, 12 mile long Deep Creek Lake sits at the top of the Ohio River watershed, just west of the Eastern Continental Divide, at an altitude of 2500 feet.

Garrett County, Maryland's westernmost, is unique and bears no resemblance to any other area of the state. The elevated Appalachian plateau features forested ridges, open farmlands, waterfalls, rushing rivers and swampy primeval glades. A delightful unexplained surprise of the Deep Creek Lake shoreline is near total absence of mosquitos, gnats and other biting insects.

Garrett County's unique climate also bears no resemblance to any eastern urban area. Year round temperatures average 15 degrees below Washington/Baltimore and 10 degrees below Pittsburgh.

Summer days are mild with temperatures reaching a pleasant low 70s to mid 80s. Summer nights are comfortably cool in the 50s and 60s. Crisp autumn days witness brilliant foliage throughout October. First frost usually appears around October 1st and first snow around the end of October.

Old man winter arrives early, stays late and usually leaves behind 100-200 inches of snow. The lake will freeze to 18 inches and the frigid temperatures allow extensive ski-area snowmaking. Alpine skiing often begins in November and continues until mid-March and occasionally into April. Cross-country skiing is at its best just after one of the 15-20 annual snowfalls.

Spring springs late at Deep Creek Lake. After enjoying the bloom of your home town Spring, come to the lake and experience it all over again from mid-April to mid-June.

Breakfast is included in the rate. It is a generous breakfast with a hot entree served daily.

We do serve dinner (at an additional charge) on our three night holiday weekends.

Dining Room

Great Room Our Inn dates back to the late 1800s but underwent an extensive restoration in the Summer and Fall of 1995. Our restoration provides all the comforts of a fine lodge.

The Inn has been appointed in the Arts and Crafts tradition and is air conditioned. Each room has individually controlled heat, telephones with private number, private baths, down comforters and down pillows (substitutes will be provided for those allergic to down).
