Introduction
George Brooks House Bed and Breakfast sits on over seven acres of land and is located at the northwest end of St. Michaels, just one-half mile north of the Chesapeake Maritime Museum. Designated a historic site by Talbot County, the Gothic Revival Victorian house on Maryland's Eastern Shore was built by George Brooks in 1908 to house the 11 children he and Mamie took in when his sister died that year. The original part of the house dates back to the Civil War period and was built by freed slaves for Captain Andrew C. Barkman. Restored and expanded in 2000 - 2001, the George Brooks House now provides bed and breakfast lodging in six guest bedrooms with private baths.
Sit on the front porch or chat over afternoon tea and cookies in the parlor. Enjoy evening wine and cheese by the fire. A DVD movie library offers selections for in-room use. Rich colors, hand-carved mahogany beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, Waverly comforters and window treatments highlight lavish guest bedrooms that may also feature a gas fireplace or a two-person whirlpool bath.

After breakfast, many guests take the Inn's new seven-speed bikes to tour St. Michaels and the vistas along the Miles River or to take the ferry over to Oxford. We have what most guests and locals consider the best pool and hot tub surrounded by gardens in this area. The swimming pool is a symetric design with 3.5 foot depth with a large set of stairs at each end and 5 feet in the middle. You can swim laps, float around on our "lounge chair", or relax and talk to friends at the steps. The hot tub is oversized at 10 foot diameter with rotating jets, and is the perfect way to unwind or gaze up at the stars under a bright sky. This is just superb under a full moon.
Our Spa facilities are pending County Zoning - not built yet! We provide the best massage therapists in this area as the entire fee is paid to the therapist (unlike all of the Spas in this area). All of our rooms are large so they can set up in the privacy of your room - or in the special Pergola built in the formal gardens subject to the right weather conditions. Other services including facial/massage available for groups of 3 or more. Golf and tennis are nearby. Gift shops, antiques, and clothing and other stores in St. Michaels.
