Butterfly Fields is centrally located within minutes drive time between our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., the state capital, Annapolis, Baltimore, Maryland, and the Chesapeake Bay Area. We are convenient to activities and attractions in both Central Maryland and Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Butterfly Fields Bed and Breakfast - Lothian, Maryland Dan and Lynda Ells offer Butterfly Fields Bed and Breakfast to their guests as the home and farm they built for their family of eight children. Butterfly Fields is an energy efficient, solar designed, super-insulated custom home. With the surrounding gardens, decks, pastures, and livestock, Butterfly Fields offers to the discerning adult guest an opportunity to enjoy the sights and sounds of country living at the doorsteps of our nation's capital and the surrounding Chesapeake Bay region.

Lynda's creative skills as a potter have been the catalyst for creating Goose at the Door Pottery. Designed and built by Dan, the Pottery offers guests an opportunity to take home a gift or keepsake. Lynda is also a certified massage therapist. Pre-arranged appointments are preferred, but short notice requests are welcomed and every attempt will be made to honor them. Gift Certificates are available and make wonderful gifts.

Guests may enjoy the use of the large dining room, living room, extensive outdoor decks, and gardens. All rooms are equipped with the standard amenities such as an alarm clock, flashlight, hair dryer, and telephone.

In addition to all the basic amenities provided for your comfort we also provide a working business office complete with fax machine, copier, computer with internet access, and printer. Wireless internet access is available for guests traveling with their laptop, and a tourist center provides guests with area information.

Policies
  • Our rooms with private baths are $175 a night.
  • Our rooms with a shared bath are $150 a night.
  • Minimum 2-night stay may be required for weekends and special occasions.
  • Rates are for double occupancy and include large farm breakfast.
  • Rates subject to change without notice.
  • Rates do not include tax.
  • Check-in: 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.; Check-out: 11 a.m.
  • The credit/debit card used to make the reservation will be charged in full at the time reservation becomes confirmed.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY: All fees assessed herein will be charged to the credit/debit card used to make the reservation.
    • For cancellations of reservations prior to fourteen (14) days of stay the Guest will be responsible for a twenty dollar ($20) administrative fee.
    • For cancellations of reservations occurring within fourteen (14) days of stay the following policy applies:
      For stays of one (1) or two (2) nights, the Guest will be responsible for a fee of one (1) night’s rate per room.
      For stays three (3) nights or longer, the Guest will be responsible for a fee of one-third (1/3) the total reservation.
    • All cancellation notifications will be assigned a cancellation number.
    • For reservations not cancelled and not honored, Guest will be responsible for the entire reservation.
