Introduction
The Bishop's House is a landmark of Talbot County, conveniently located within 10 miles of Oxford and St. Michaels. Built in 1880 as the home of former Maryland Governor Philip Frances Thomas, (1848-1851), and the first State Comptroller of the Treasury, (1851-1853), the Victorian house was sold to the Episcopal Diocese and served as the Bishop's home until 1955. Located in the heart of Easton, Maryland (rated the 8th Best Small Town in America), the Bishop's House is within walking distance of the historic and picturesque Town Center, art galleries, museums, specialty and antique shops, and casual and gourmet restaurants. On site Private off-street parking, secured bicycle storage, take-away
cycling maps, and complimentary bicycle use, are available to guests.
Guest Rooms
Beyond the comfort and spaciousness of the three first floor common rooms, guests may choose from five bedrooms with distinct personalities. All guest rooms have hardwood floors, lace curtains, 1000 thread count bed linens, a Doeskin Guest Robe, Down Comforters, (in season), steam iron & ironing boards, period furnishings and complimentary high speed wireless connection is available throughout the house. All guest rooms are equipped with a Clock Radio, CD Player, Cable TV/DVD players, Ceiling Fan, individually-controlled air conditioning, hair dryer, and phone jacks for modem hookup. All guest room baths have shower panels, and four have whirlpool tubs. Second Floor Guest Rooms have King Sized Beds and Working Fireplaces.
Guest room rates for single or double occupancy per room, are $185 and $195, per night, plus taxes,
(6% Maryland State Tax and 4% Talbot County Accommodations Tax).
Room rates are subject to change prior to reservation acceptance. Reservations are required for all stays.
A two-night minimum stay is required for all guest rooms, for both weekday and weekend stays.
A three-night minimum stay is required on certain holiday & special event weekends, which include the Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Waterfowl Festival Weekends.
We will accommodate guests on an overnight basis, but payment for a two night stay is required.
Sumptuous Breakfasts
Guests rave about our breakfasts, which feature our own recipes. A full breakfast is included in room rate. Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. in the spacious first floor dining area. Breakfasts consist of fruit juice, individual fruit platters or fruit cup, fresh oven-baked muffins, bread or scones, breakfast meat, a "specialty egg dish," and a special entree such as Puffed Blueberry Pancakes, our special French Toast or Banana Flavored Belgium Waffles. We also offer coffee and a choice of a variety of teas or hot chocolate.
Special Occasions and Events
The Bishop's House is the perfect place for a honeymoon or romantic
getaway. Also, some corporations have found the Bishop's House exactly
right for simpler seminars, management retreats, and business travel.
