Since May 2003, your innkeepers, Rudy Novak and Mark Svrcek, have hosted over 2000 guests at Antietam Overlook Farm. Many of the guests return time and time again to enjoy the special feeling, the wonderful food, and the gracious hospitality that they have come to expect. Rudy and Mark have continued the hard work, care, and love that Barbara and John Dreisch have put into the previous fifteen years that Antietam Overlook Farm has operated as a Bed and Breakfast.
Rudy, originally from the Cleveland Ohio area, graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Business Administration. He has used his degree as an executive in the printing and graphics industry for the past fifteen years. Since the Bowling Green days and extensive experience in entertaining as Social Chairman for the fraternity Kappa Sigma, it is only fitting that someday a B & B lifestyle would be in his future.
Mark, born in Washington DC, and raised in a family of six children, was the youngest. He grew up in a modest rambler with 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths with a finished basement as a 4th bedroom for his older brothers. While attending the University of Maryland in College Park, Mark started a business with his brother, and a few years later at the age of 23 became a realtor. As the business grew, Mark opened a RE/MAX franchise to expand his brokerage firm. In 1998, he expanded his existing business into the Investment Advisory services business it is today. Shortly after getting involved in the investment business, he met Rudy. On a weekend get together with friends, Mark and Rudy visited some Maryland Wineries, and the dream was born.
It was in the search for land to plant a future vineyard that brought them to the gate of Antietam Overlook Farm B&B. The beauty, views, and potential have given them a foundation to take what Barbara and John started and make it their own. Their quest to start a vineyard brought them by accident to become Innkeepers.
