South Hadley is a town in Hampshire County in central Massachusetts. South Hadley celebrates its rich history through its Federal designation as an historic district, its preservation of buildings such as the Sycamore House, and community celebrations, such as the 2003 celebration of the Town's 250th birthday. When you stay at a South Hadley bed and breakfast, make sure to visit the Firehouse Museum, located in nearby South Hadley Falls, which commemorates the firefighters who have served the community for decades. This building is a historical landmark since it served the community from 1899 to 1973. The museum has displays of firefighting equipment and other exhibits that change yearly. The Connecticut River, which runs by South Hadley, affords residents and visitors boating and rowing opportunities via several access points including a public boat launch south of the Holyoke Dam and Brunelle's Marina off Alvord Street. After spending time on the river, return to a South Hadley B&B or South Hadley inn to rest. If you get hungry, try out Thirsty Mind Coffee and Wine Bar, which is right in South Hadley and offers many choices, or try Europa, also in South Hadley, which has creative European cuisine and tapas dining.
