Plainfield is situated on the northwestern edge of Hampshire County in Massachusetts. Dubuque Memorial State Forest, which is right in Plainfield, is certainly worth visiting, spanning 7,882 acres and consisting of northern hardwood and spruce-fir trees. You can enjoy 35 miles of mixed-use trails, six miles of hiking trails and one mile of an interpretive trail around the Hallockville Pond. Obviously there are a huge number of recreational opportunities there, such as camping, fishing, and canoing. Close by the Savoy Mountain State Forest provides a great break from the routine of city life, with its scenic ponds, wooded areas and hills in the distance. If you are interested in seeing either site, consider booking a room at a Plainfield bed and breakfast. After you spend a day in the out-of-doors, you may want to rest up at a Plainfield B&B or Plainfield inn. Then be sure to check out the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, which has an excellent display of exhibits on the history of trolleys. Later, if you are looking for a place for dinner, try Bertucci's for authentic Italian food. Or you might enjoy Cafe Martin, a cozy spot with excellent food.
