Located on an island 20 miles from the coast of Massachusetts, Nantucket offers great beaches and lots of history as the capital of the whaling industry in the 19th century. It also has an abundance of wonderful inns and B&Bs. If you want to visit Nantucket in the summer, make sure to book a room at a Nantucket B&B or Nantucket inn early, because Nantucket is such a popular summer destination they fill up very quickly. If you are staying in Nantucket in the Fall, you can attend the popular Nantucket Harvest Festival. If you come in Spring, you will enjoy the Daffodil Festival, which highlights these great flowers as they bloom. If you are interested in history, visit the Nantucket Whaling Museum, where you will see the skeletons of huge whales and hear stories about encounters. The Maria Mitchell House is fascinating in its detail about this woman astronomer. Her telescope is on display as well as other personal belongings. After a long day visiting all these sites, you will probably will want to rest up in a Nantucket bed and breakfast. Later, when you are looking for a place for dinner, try the Boarding House, featuring steaks and seafood. If you want something lighter, Something Natural is a great sandwich shop.
