Marblehead is a town in Essex County on the north shore of Massachusetts. Marblehead Harbor is well known for its extensive displays of sailing craft, since the harbor has been a major sailing port for hundreds of years. Also, for years and years Marblehead has been the starting and finishing port for many races, some of them international. One race, between Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Marblehead began in 1905 and is still going on today. If you want to visit, be sure to reserve a room at a Marblehead B&B or inn, so you will be in the center of the activity. If you decide to come in December, the Annual Christmas Walk in Marblehead offers a weekend of family entertainment, shopping, dining, and concerts! In summer, Atlantic Charters features sailing charters, sailboat rentals, sailing lessons and more. Also be sure to check out the many galleries, such as J.O.J. Frost Folk Art Gallery, which specializes in art that depicts the rich maritime history that abounds in Marblehead. After you have seen all you want, why not retire to a Marblehead bed and break to rest up. Then, when you are hungry, try Sagra, which offers affordable and simply prepared Italian fare. Another possibility is Flynnie's, a casual restaurant that serves a variety of pasta specials.
