Built in 1722, our Inn on Jacob Hill has a long history of hosting some of Americas most prominent people, including the Vanderbilts. During the 20 years that the Inn was the Jacob Hill Hunt Club (1924-1944) the member list resembled a copy of Who's Who in America.
Today, guests with their horseless carriages are entertained in the same old-fashioned way. We offer swimming in our lovely inground pool and a tennis court is on the premises. There are many local antique shops, including world renowned Leonard's.
Depending on the season guests can pick berries, pumpkins, or bring home a Christmas tree, coupled with either a hay or sleigh ride. Others schedule horseback riding lessons, a Hot Air Balloon ride or canoe on the Palmer River.
Most guests just settle back in our wonderful, relaxing world and simply enjoy the magnificent sunsets performing daily over the valley below. We are open year round. The beauty of the surroundings never fades; it just changes from one season to the next.
Breakfast is a feast; we take pride in serving a different cooked entrée every morning. A few of the favorites are Stuffed French Toast, Blueberry Pancakes or Omelets, with Bill's crisp bacon or maple sausages and excellent coffee.
Just 2 miles from the Inn, lunch or dinner can be enjoyed at The Old Grist Mill specializing in steaks or seafood, wonderful atmosphere of a waterfall which powered the Mill in 1745. Other options include a good old fashioned New England clam bake or many other fine dining restaurants in Providence, maybe you'll catch Waterfire.
