Guest Rooms/Rates
The Isaiah Jones Homestead consists of two separate buildings on one acre of land with a total of 7 distinctly decorated guest rooms and several common rooms. Each room has numerous antiques, a king or queen size bed, private bath, and many of the rooms have whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. Each room comes with luxurious robes and other amenities. All of the guest rooms have private baths en suite. A three course gourmet breakfast is included. All the guest areas have central air conditioning.
The Cottage Rooms
The Carriage House, built circa 1875 and recently renovated, has two large, luxurious rooms located on the second floor. Each room is decorated in Victorian Cottage Style and has a sitting area overlooking the garden and fish pond and contains a fireplace, cable TV, skylights, ceiling fan, vaulted ceiling, whirlpool bath and separate shower. These rooms also have a sofa that can convert to a full-size bed for an extra guest. These private, secluded rooms are ideal for that special occasion or a relaxing retreat. Come and relax by the fire, enjoy a soothing soak in the oversized whirlpool or gaze out over the garden and pond while enjoying your morning coffee.
The Thornton Burgess Room was named after the noted Sandwich-born naturalist and children's author (originator of Peter Rabbit, Reddy Fox and Grandfather Fox). The Captain Weeks Room was named after Captain William Weeks, a noted New Bedford whaler who was the father of Hannah Weeks. Hannah Weeks married Isaiah Jones in 1862, together they had 8 children.
The Victorian Rooms
The Main House of the Isaiah Jones Homestead was built in 1849 in the Italianate style. Here you will find a small study with books and pamphlets on Cape attractions, a cable TV, phone and internet access. In the Victorian living room (once used as the Jones family parlor), one can see many photographs of Isaiah and Hannah Jones and their family and many late 19th century photographs of the house. There is an original working fireplace at one end (look for the misplaced tile), two bay windows and an enormous china cabinet. The cherry-paneled dining room, opened in January, 2004, has a fireplace, bookcases and opens onto a deck overlooking the yard and gardens. You will also find a refrigerator with complimentary sodas and waters and a self-service tea and coffee set-up.
There are five guest rooms in the main house, all decorated in high Victorian style with many antiques:
The Deming Jarves Room, located on the second floor, is the perfect accommodation for your special occasion. This large room is named after the originator of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Factory (Deming Jarves moved to Sandwich in 1824 and the factory opened July, 1825). The Victorian half canopy queen sized bed, beautiful antique cheval mirror, glass front stove and full bath with oversize whirlpool tub, separate shower and spa robes make this room the romantic retreat.
The Lombard Jones Room on the second floor is named after Isaiah Jones' oldest son and has a Victorian queen bed with an antique dresser. Two comfortable wing chairs invite you to relax and unwind. A glass front stove and oversize whirlpool tub make this room a luxurious experience.
The Dr. Samuel Beale Room has a high, queen sized four-poster bed with a mahogany step-up for easier access. This room is on the first floor and has an original fireplace and an alcove sitting area. It is named after a beloved town doctor who was raised on the Cape and Islands and lived and practiced in Sandwich from 1909-1965. This room has a private bath (shower only) en suite.
The Thomas Dexter Room, named after one of the original settlers of Sandwich and the builder of the Grist mill, is a warm inviting room furnished with an antique Eastlake queen sized bed. It has a glass front stove, two comfortabe wing chairs, an Eastlake dresser and a large bathroom with a tub/shower combination. This room is on the second floor and has a private staircase leading from the living room.
The Dr. Jonathan Leonard Room is a first floor room. Its deep colors, oriental carpets, queen sized canopy bed, and antique furniture make it a retreat of grandeur. This room has a glass front stove, private bath (shower only) en suite. This room is named after Dr. Jonathan Leonard who built the home in 1849, lived and practiced here until selling the home to Isaiah Jones in 1861. Dr. Leonard's father was also a physician in Sandwich from the approximately 1790 until 1849.
