Marblehead's winding streets are lined with houses which reflect its history: 17th century homes of the early fisherman, 18th century Georgian mansions of ship owners (such as the Lee and Hooper mansions), 19th century Victorian edifaces such as Abbot Hall, where the famous painting "The Spirit of '76" can be seen. Enjoy activities such as whale watch excursions, historic house tours, classical and jazz concerts, sunset cruises, the July Arts Festival, the December Christmas walk, or summer racing regettas. Only a short walk from Harborside House are the historic sites of Old Town, antique shops, art galleries, shops of local craftsmen, as well as a variety of dining choices to suit every taste bud and budget - fresh seafood, gourmet Northern Italian, or casual Mexican.
Antique furnishings and period wallpapers enhance the charm of this comfortable, quiet home. A large guest room with antique mahogany twin beds overlooks the harbor. The romantic double-bed guest room with antique mirrored dressing table has a garden view. A generous continental breakfast includes fresh friut, juice, homebaked breads and muffins, and a choice of cereals. Wi-Fi is also available to our guests. Susan Livingston transformed her home of over thirty years into one of Marblehead's first Bed & Breakfasts in 1985. She is a semi-retired professional dressmaker specializing in weddings. She has been active in the Historical Society and a local garden club. She is a calligraphist and nationally ranked Master swimmer. Susan is very happy to share her knowledge of Marblehead, as well as Salem, Cape Ann and Boston, all within an hour's travel.
