Fox Pond Bed & Breakfast is considered to be one of Boston's most romantic hideaways. Nestled among giant oaks on a cul-de-sac and adjacent to 33 acres of conservation land, Fox Pond is a blend of unassuming elegance and natural beauty. Fox Pond Bed & Breakfast was completely renovated in 1997 and is both a B&B as well as a showcase for residential architecture. When it was completed, all four sides of the original cape had been added to and redesigned. The home is a traditional cape with many surprises and an architecture that is both inviting as well as beautiful. The house has received national recognition and will be featured in Traditional Home Magazine in 2005. In 2004 the home was featured in Gardening and Deck Design and the Marblehead Reporter.

The Pond Room

Fox Pond has three queen bedrooms with private marble baths. The largest room is the Pond Room located on the first floor at the rear of the house. The Coral and Cloud rooms are large sunny rooms on the second floor in the front of the house. The living room is flanked by an oversized fireplace and portraits of Capt John Linzee and his wife. Capt Linzee commanded the British frigate Falcon and fired on Bunker Hill during the revolution. There are also artifacts owned by Col William Prescott who was the likely target. The kitchen is sunny and modern with a series of windows that provide a dramatic view of the patio and gardens. Guests can choose to eat in the kitchen or on the patio. As one grateful guest wrote: "If God is in the details, there's a little bit of heaven for your guest here."

Outside, guests can find over 1,300 sq. ft. of decks or a beautiful brick patio surrounded by flowers and specimen trees. The gardens were designed to lead visitors on meandering brick paths and open grass boulevards to the pond and conservation land. The garden is a series of rooms linked by walls and pathways, which provide both whimsy and surprise for guests. In Gardening and Deck Design, Maureen FitzPatrick writes: "The result is a landscape that defies the boundaries between the man-made and natural worlds." There is a path from the property to the ocean, which can be walked in three minutes. Hiking and biking trails are accessible providing a comfortable 30 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride to Marblehead center. The house is less than a 5-minute drive to beaches, shopping and restaurants.

Fox Pond is a sanctuary for birds and an occasional fox. Guests can listen to a quiet waterfall and watch the koi swim through beds of water lilies and iris. The yard is distinguished by rock ledge, stonewalls, large oak trees and a 50' reflective pond. Specimen trees include a red bud, birches, Japanese red maples, hemlocks, junipers and dogwoods. Accent lighting provides a magical view during the night's darkness.
