Casually elegant, all of the rooms have private bathrooms, cable TV, DVD, CD player, A/C unit, down pillows, comfortable chairs/love seats and reading lights. Innkeeper Gerry's love of reading affords our guests the opportunity to borrow from his large collection of books and magazines. Savor the smells, tastes and sights of the bountiful buffet breakfast each morning in the ambiance of the country kitchen, or retreat to the veranda or garden patios. And, throughout the day, enjoy cappuccino, tea and coffee at your leisure, as well as munchies, juices and set-ups early evening.

The Living Room is the focal point for guest interaction; stocked with books both old and new, the latest magazines, newspapers and journals and the fire a blazing on crisp mornings and eves. The art collection represents several artist friends, all of whom have stayed at The Century House. Coffee and tea available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; cookies, cocktail setups too. A Little History...
The history of The Century House dates back to 1833. According to research, The Century House was built by Robert Calder, Captain of the whaleship, "Alto" which voyaged the Indian Ocean and around the Cape of Good Hope. With the decline of the whaling industry and the rise of visitors to Nantucket The Century House turned to the hospitality industry and began serving the Island traveler. Since then its motto, "An Inn of Distinction on an Island of Charm," continues to govern the staff's attitudes of old fashioned warmheartedness and caring service.
